Developed by Bethesda, Fallout 3 (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3) tells the continuing saga of survival after the Earth was left scorched in 2077 after tensions between China and the United States over dwindling resources resulted in a nuclear apocalypse. While millions of lives were lost, those who found themselves safe within the hundreds of underground fallout shelters were faced with the burden of keeping the human race alive.
Fallout 3 is the third game in the popular post-apocalyptic franchise (originally created by Interplay) that tasks you with surviving the harsh, charred remains of Washington D.C., now colloquially referred to as the Capitol Wasteland. Located in the outskirts of city, Vault 101 operates under the assumption that the shelter door will never open. After your father escapes, you've no choice but to follow after him into the Wasteland where mutated animals, roving bandits and Super Mutants all vie to make your life miserable.
Fallout 3 is a first person shooter that blends role playing mechanics with an open world setting, allowing your character to go anywhere on the map to find supplies or help out various people and factions. The haunting landscape makes for an unnerving experience as you make your past the remains of the Capitol Building, Jefferson Memorial and the White House. Fallout 3 offers a great sense of adventure and exploration as you explore the Capitol Remains, finding areas that exist as mere snapshots of life the moment the nuclear holocaust began. With hundreds of characters to interact with and missions to complete, Fallout 3 is the sort of game that will keep you busy for an exceptionally long time.
Fallout 3 is rated M for Mature (Ages 17+ only)
